YTV begins to change the currently used Travel Cards to new ones on Tuesday 10 November. Your Travel Card is changed to a new one automatically when you load your card at an R kiosk or Travel Card service point. You get the new card free of charge. There are no changes to the use of the card.

You can change your Travel Card at any R kiosk, Travel Card service point and Stockmann department store in the metropolitan area. We advise you to allow more time for your visit to a loading point as the change of cards takes up slightly longer time per customer than a regular loading of the card.

The old Travel Cards work normally also after the roll-out of the new cards has begun but the old cards are changed to new ones automatically in the above mentioned sales points from 10 November, i.e. it is not possible to load old Travel Cards at these sales points after 10 November. All the information stored on the old Travel Card is transferred to the new card, including possible period tickets and value. The old card is invalidated and later on destroyed.

If you normally load your Travel Card at ticket machines or private kiosks, make sure you change your Travel Card to a new one at one of the card change points by 2 February 2010 for the old cards cannot be loaded at ticket machines or kiosks after this date.

The new Travel Cards can be loaded at all sales points from 10 November. Please note, that at VR book-ing offices, the loading of new cards will be possible later this year, with the exception of Kirkkonummi railway station where the new cards can be loaded from 10 November.

You can change your Travel Card to a new one even if you do not want to load your card right now. You can also change several cards at the same time, e.g. the cards of your family members.
Why the change?

The change of Travel Cards is necessary because the old cards have reached the end of their useful life. The new cards also enable us to provide new services, e.g. new online services and in a few years time more extensive passenger information.
